We’ve partnered with Algorand: a high-performance, secure, scalable and sustainable blockchain that consumes negligible energy. What little is consumed is offset by buying carbon credits through smart contracts in order to remain carbon negative on a net basis.

Our newly redesigned architecture includes a globally distributed graph database designed for performance and scalability on the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Data is segregated to achieve maximum security, and we added asynchronous logging to the blockchain to minimize lag while enabling even larger batch operations.

  • Sustainability is rooted in Algorand’s Pure Proof-of-Stake Protocol (PPoS).

    Each final transaction on Algorand uses roughly 0.0000004 kg of CO2, in contrast, a Bitcoin transaction emits 338 tons of CO2. In total the Algorand Blockchain uses the energy equivalent needed to power about seven houses for one year.

    Algorand offsets its carbon usage by buying carbon credits through smart contract. As a result it is guaranteed to remain carbon negative on a net basis.
